Congratulations to Coach Peter

Peter Abbott is a 24 year old member of the church who is part of the coaching staff at Piedmont Independent School in the Oklahoma City area.  He is a byproduct of the Okmulugee area and has been helped by the teachings as well as involvement of St. Mary’s Christian Center in the lives of youth.

We prayerfully and humbly accept donations at St. Mary’s Christian Center for the furtherance of the gospel and continuance of our community outreach program to youth.

Here’s some comments we received about Peter from one of the parents.

I would like to give you a note on Coach Abbott.  We (my wife and I) are impressed with Coach Abbott as a person and a middle school coach.  As a coach:

1.  Observed him as a football coach and was impressed with his involvement – thought he was a basketball coach waiting for the season to start.  It’s obvious that he was an asset to the team.  He was running all over the sidelines talking to players and being upbeat.

2.  Observed him as a basketball coach and he was everything that I had heard.  Hard nosed and knowledgeable of the game.  He’s involved with the OCC camp in Edmond which is heads above any other camp in the OKC area.

3.  Has a mindset on how he wants his team to play and sticks to the plan.  He is vocal and will correct any player.

As a person:

1.  Early riser.  This tells me a lot about him.  He’s not lazy and he’s more than likely an early planner in all areas of his life.

2.  Has his team dress nice on road game days shows me that he has pride in what he does.

3.  Doesn’t tolerate bad conduct at school.

4.  He’s considerate of his team during game days about getting proper nourishment and study hall.

5.  Always respectful of my family and observed the same with other individuals.

6.  Open and smiling.  A happy person.

I think that Coach Abbott is an outstanding person and coach.  He also fits in well at the Piedmont School system.

How Was Your October – A Message from Pastor Thad

The month of October was especially hard for Shirley and I. My mother passed away on October 26th and we knew for most of October that she would be going to be with the Lord. But through the sadness, I can still say that “In everything give thanks”. We had so many things to be thankful for. I was asked to provide the message of comfort at my mom’s homegoing celebration. Now that was hard but I was blessed to make it through that situation. So if there are any of you who have a loved one / special friend that passed away and you had to come to grips with the situation, we want you to share your experience with us and anyone else reading this comment. Your experience and how you overcame might be the very thing that someone needs to hear today to help them through their period of grief. Pastor Thad
